Looking for a rewarding opportunity with flexible hours and lots of job security? Dickinson PTO Elections are May 4th. We need your ideas and want you to be part of the team.

When you hear the word "volunteer" is your biggest fear that you will be sucked into a black hole of never-ending time commitment? Serving on the PTO Executive Board or chairing a committee doesn’t mean you will give hours and hours of your time. Our unofficial motto is have fun, meet new people, keep it simple and family first. Volunteering is flexible and can be done during school hours or in the evenings, whether you work full- or part-time or still have young children at home.

About Dickinson PTO:  We have partnered with and provide support to Dickinson Elementary School’s teachers and administration to help make our school the best it can be for our children. With funds raised through membership, events and donations, we provide funding for school improvements not provided in school budgets to include field trips technology upgrades and classroom resources. We support teachers in various ways such as providing funds for approved classroom uses and snacks at weekly teacher meetings and draw our community together through various extra-curricular activities.

A brief description of the 2015-16 PTO Executive Board positions and committee chairs are located under About Us. Please consider a small donation of your time, and invite your friends. All board position terms are held for one year and the school year goes fast!

If you would like to nominate a potential candidate, the nomination form can be found here.

If you need additional information regarding any of the board positions or committee chairs, please email PTO President, Jill Carroll at

We love our teachers and we love our volunteers.  Better yet, we love to show our appreciation for everything that they do for our children and our school.  Congratulations to Coach Rice on being voted the Teacher of the Month for August and to Kathryn Self on being voted the Volunteer of the Month for all of her hard work and commitment in making the car pool line safe and easy to use!
Mrs Preas, the Dickinson Librarian, needs volunteers to assist in the library.  Contact Mrs Preas ( or 832-223-1407) if you are able to assist with the following:
  • Check books in and out, shelve books and help with clerical jobs.
  • Organize and help implement the book fairs and reading award programs.
  • Make a weekly, yearlong commitment that includes a minimum of a one hour block of time.
You may volunteer during your child’s library time as long as it is not a problem for you or your child.  Your volunteer time is needed to carry out the above responsibilities versus a time to interact with your child or your child’s teacher.

Please let Mrs Preas know if you are able to volunteer weekly or would prefer to help with special events i.e. book fairs, reading celebrations.  If you are interested in a weekly commitment, email the day and time that you are interested in. Mrs Preas will assess her needs and respond with a Volunteer Schedule.
