In 2014-15, the Dickinson PTO collaborated with school administrators and local law enforcement, and purchased orange cones to help ensure a safer, more efficient "commute" for the morning car rider drop-off line. A big thank you to the Dickinson Cone Club (or the parents and their kids who spent a few minutes each morning, rain or shine, making sure the cones were set up and put away): The Akins, The Carrolls, The Cummings, The Fitzgeralds, The Selfs, The Shahins, The Thompsons, The Woodruffs and The Williams families. A special thank you to Coach Rice who was always on hand to award lots of Sports Dollars to those children who lent a helping hand setting up the cones with their parents.
For the past seven years, Sharon Doelling has served as Dickinson Elementary School’s Teacher Appreciation Chair. She brings creativity and thoughtfulness to every activity she plans, to include breakfast buffets, luncheons, weekly snacks and daily acts of kindness for Teacher Appreciation Week. She coordinates homemade breakfast casseroles, soups, salads, sides, desserts and more—and to top it off, she transforms the teacher’s lounge with her creative flair and beautiful decorations…one time she brought in a surf board to use as buffet table!
Thank you Dickinson families for your investment in the Dickinson PTO—you have gone over and beyond this year. Two very successful PTO fundraisers--the PTO Membership Drive and Monster Mash, along with spirit nights, box tops and more--raised approximately $40,000.
One of the primary goals of our PTO is to enhance the educational opportunities for the students of Dickinson Elementary that are not otherwise provided for in the school corporate budgets. Dickinson PTO surveyed teachers and staff for a comprehensive school-wide "wish list"--and thanks to parents and business partners' participation in PTO fundraisers--wishes were granted! Dickinson PTO had the necessary funds to approve the entire $33,000 wish list and more!

In 2014-15, 250 Dickinson families joined the PTO and more than 4,000 volunteer hours have been logged. It's been a busy year at Dickinson...a big thank you for the support from the wonderful parent volunteers who make Dickinson teachers and faculty feel loved all year long through delicious homemade snacks, making copies, counting box tops, planning events and fundraisers and more!

As part of the social campaign, guests are encouraged to share a message of appreciation through Target’s Facebook page or the Thanks a Billion website, honoring a teacher who has made an impact on their life. When a guest submits a note of gratitude (certain terms & conditions apply), Target will donate $25 to the teacher’s school with the opportunity for each school to receive up to $25,000. Looking for a rewarding opportunity with flexible hours and lots of job security? Dickinson PTO Elections are May 4th. We need your ideas and want you to be part of the team.
When you hear the word "volunteer" is your biggest fear that you will be sucked into a black hole of never-ending time commitment? Serving on the PTO Executive Board or chairing a committee doesn’t mean you will give hours and hours of your time. Our unofficial motto is have fun, meet new people, keep it simple and family first. Volunteering is flexible and can be done during school hours or in the evenings, whether you work full- or part-time or still have young children at home.
About Dickinson PTO: We have partnered with and provide support to Dickinson Elementary School’s teachers and administration to help make our school the best it can be for our children. With funds raised through membership, events and donations, we provide funding for school improvements not provided in school budgets to include field trips technology upgrades and classroom resources. We support teachers in various ways such as providing funds for approved classroom uses and snacks at weekly teacher meetings and draw our community together through various extra-curricular activities.
